Trip to DC!

We made caramel apples between General Conference sessions.
 Yum!
Grace was sick all day, and missed school the next day.
We had our first fire of the season. Paul finally had to put it out because it was so windy outside that the smoke kept blowing into the room!
Monday was Alice/Charlie's school walkathon.
Playing before it started.
They did a good job!
Supporting the runners!
Just had to zoom in on that cute little face!
 Dinner at McDonald's after.
Tuesday was our family hike of the Lagoon Trail.
 Great fall weather!

Grace needed a picture for the website she's making.
Just being cute.
I love it when he does his sideways mouth!
Paul sprinkling colored chalk dust from the top of the ladder. It was Alice/Charlie's consolation prize since we didn't stay after the walkathon to do the chalk throw.
Pork BBQ leftovers for lunch.

And a yogurt-covered banana.

Alice's birthday celebration at school.
She got to show off some of her favorite things.
In the airport heading to DC!
At the Turkish restaurant our first night in DC.
Yummy food, including mushroom flatbread and hummus.
 It was a great find!
Waiting in line at the White House.
Washington Monument.
White House library.
A ballroom.
Dining room.
Outside the White House.
Lunch at Astro Donuts and Fried Chicken.
Paul dropped me off at the Natural History Museum. If you haven't seen me in a while, here's a picture of my pregnant belly.
 Easter Island head.
Very cool narwhal exhibit.
Angler fish.
Extinct birds: dodo and moa.
Dinner at our fancy restaurant. Sorry I'm slouching but the chair was so soft and cozy!
French onion soup. I LOVED it!
 Paul ordered duck.
 I got lamb chops.
 Creme brulee trio.
Citrus tart. We considered this our anniversary trip, even though it's 4 months late!
Proof we went to the effort of going to church on Sunday, for what it was worth!
 Sleeping panda at the zoo.
 These anteaters were so cool!
 Another anteater (tamandua).
 Bee mural (for Grace).
Lots of Halloween decorations around the zoo.

National Cathedral. My favorite place we went.

Breakfast at Bread and Chocolate on our last day.
Paul also ordered smoked salmon eggs benedict.
Mural of Duke Ellington by our hotel.
Paul went to a panel with an Apollo astronaut who walked on the moon, Harrison Schmitt.
We ate lunch at celebrity chef Spike Mendelsohn's restaurant: We, the Pizza.
 Really delicious!
A picture Dad Gabe sent us of their visit to Grandma Grace's.
 This kid.

Candy haunted house the kids decorated with their grandparents while we were gone.

Hippo statue Paul saw and took a picture of for Danny. Great trip!
